SCEPA is an endowment based on donations and growing assets for the longterm purpose of keeping live professional theatre and performing arts in southern Colorado.  We all know that theatre and arts attract people and add to the richness and diversity of local and regional culture.  Trinidad has become an arts magnet with state grants for providing artists space to work and live.  It is also a community of beautiful old buildings preserved for historic value.  SCEPA is a part of the overall program to bring tourists and locals together for live performance and audience enjoyment.  It is a way to keep the theatre arts alive in Trinidad in perpetuity.

Please come and visit Trinidad in the summer and see fine professional theatre and contact SCEPA if you want to be someone who supports the arts and theatre.  There are many ways to give including money, investment assets, property, and bequests.  Stan Obrey is a retired investment manager and will be happy to discuss all the options and levels of support with you. Call Stan at 719-845-0258.

HOW IT WORKS:

The Endowment Fund of the SCEPA is intended to ensure the long term financial health of Professional Repertory Performing Arts in Trinidad Colorado.  Contributions to the SCEPA are left intact and only the earnings are used to support the operations of repertory professional theater in Trinidad, CO. Contributions will be defined as follows

  1. Income Producing Investments (Cash, Stock, Rental Properties)
  2. Non-Income Producing Investments (Life Insurance Policies, Real Estate, Art)
  3. It is noted that efforts will be made to transfer all non-producing assets in the endowment to income producing assets overtime. (ex. Real Estate to Rental Properties or sold)
    1. The acceptance of non-income producing assets to the endowment must have the approval of the board, and must be free of any major incumbents.
    2. This is to ensure that the non-income producing assets will not drain the income producing assets of the endowment.
  1. The Endowment fund is intended to produce income to be distributed to professional repertory theater in Trinidad, but investment consideration will be made for the growth and overall diversification of the funds.
  2. The assets of the Endowment fund will be professionally managed at all times, and quarterly reports will be made available to the board of directors.
  3. The corpus of the endowment cannot be pledged against any indebtedness of any organization but the earnings can be used to retire debts.
  4. In the unlikely closure of all professional repertory theaters in Trinidad, the Endowment will continue. All earnings will be reinvested until another Professional Repertory Performing Arts organize is established. The earnings should not be used for single events passing through town, nor dribbled out into small meaningless grants.  As an example, it should not be passed out to a dozen organizations, at $500 to $2,500 each.
    1. When another Professional Repertory Theater establishes itself, these funds should be used to support them, in a meaningful way.
    2. These funds should be used to foster and support an organization which is permanent in nature and will bring tourism to Trinidad year round.

At any time if the corpus of the Endowment is invaded, directly or indirectly all assets will be returned to the Donors.
